Assignment 14A – Halfway Reflection
1)
Tenaciousness
is a competency.
In the past two months, I have had to use time management
skills to ensure that I submitted the assignments on time. I also had to
develop my confidence when I interviewed people I did not know. I have also had
to persist when I found an assignment or part of an assignment difficult.
2)
Tenaciousness
is also about attitude.
I honestly struggled with one of the very first assignments.
The bug list. When I first read it, I got really worried and suddenly my mind
went blank. Right then I thought “Oh no, I’m not going to do well in this
class.” But then I tried to listen to the lectures and think about the little
things that bother me everyday and realized that I knew more than I thought.
Another time I felt like giving up was when we came up with solution to the
need. Again my mind just went blank and I freaked out. But then relaxing and
thinking through every thing helped. I think my biggest problem was jumping ahead
of myself and not letting myself go through the process. I think
that the attitudes I am developing are trusting myself more and perseverance.
These two experiences were definitely key moments for me.
3)
Three
tips about fostering the skills that support tenacity and developing the ‘tenacious
mindset.’
1.
Preserver, you know more than you think you do. Trust
yourself and be confident.
2.
Listen to the tips from the lecture about doing
the assignment and use the resources; it will make more sense to you. This
helps with your organization and time management, so you can approach assignments
with clarity and in a relaxed nature.
3.
Stay on top of the work, it can creep up on you,
but breathe at the same time. This will help you not to get overwhelmed and
stressed out which will more likely make you feel like you can tackle your
problems.
For me, persistence and time management is key in my sport, which I try to apply in other aspects of my life.

I can totally relate with you on blanking out on the bug list. The same thing happened to me. What I ended up doing was realizing that the more I forced myself to come up with things that bothered me, the more my thoughts froze. I ended up making a note on my iphone that allowed me to go throughout my day and as thing came up in my routine that bothered me - I would list them.
ReplyDeleteHey Georgia, I also really had to use my time management skills during the first half of this course. I had to set time aside to find people to interview and some assignments took longer than expected like the elevator pitch and the bug list. Therefore, I really learned to set time aside in my week to work on these assignments.
ReplyDeleteHello Georgia!
ReplyDeleteWow, I completely forgot about how frustrated I was when doing the bug list. I had no idea what to expect out of this class. I didn't know if it would be easy or hard, and the bug list was actually really daunting as I was starting it. I didn't think I would finish it, but perseverance got me through it and it became easier and easier. Looking back on it, the very first assignment was an importance experience for me.
I think the biggest thing that helps with this class is definitely perseverance and you've highlighted that as well. As long as you demand yourself to set a good schedule for yourself regarding this class (obviously works with others as well) you can really get on top of all the assignments. Even some of the assignments that seem a lot longer or aren't suited to your strengths or the strengths that your venture has you can still complete everything as long as you just apply a little perseverance.
